International Women’s Day Lunch

Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate, near Horsham in West Sussex, is hosting the inaugural International Women’s Day Lunch, Sussex, on Thursday 5 March 2020, from 12:00 to 15:30. The lunch includes wine, for £40 per person.

International Women's Day (March 8) is a global event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, and marks a ‘call to action’ for accelerating women's equality. The first IWD was celebrated in 1911, supported by over a million people.

The event at the Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate includes inspirational speakers who will share their business stories; how they overcame adversity and their advice to other aspiring businesswomen.

The panel includes Charlotte Valeur, chair of the Institute of Directors, who will speak on ‘Equality, a roadmap for change’ - she says: “In a constantly changing world, are we ready for real change in equality? Are we prepared to accept equality in all areas? I will be discussing whether it is possible to stop signing up to all the old paradigms that have been around for so long, and how women can benefit.”

Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate owner Penny Streeter OBE was awarded the OBE in 2006 for ‘services to enterprise’ - however, at the start of her career in 1989, she was living in homeless accommodation with three young children.

After some years working in other people's recruitment businesses, in 1995 she started her own agency, funded by evenings moonlighting as a children's party entertainer. She launched what was to become the A24 Group medical staffing agency and quickly achieved success.

In 2013 Penny Streeter OBE bought Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in South Africa, to start the Benguela Collection - the epitome of luxury living, with restaurants, accommodation, golf, vineyards and botanical gardens in England and SA. Since then, her acquisitions have included Mannings Heath Golf Club in 2016, and the following year Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens
