Mannings Heath Golf Club Hosts Clutch Pro Tour Championship with Free Spectator Access
Mannings Heath Golf Club, set within the Leonardslee Wine Estate, is hosting the Mannings Heath Clutch Pro Tour Championship from August 14-16, 2024. This premier golfing event offers spectators free access to world-class golf, complemented by the estate’s newly launched English sparkling wines and dining experiences.
The championship, part of the Clutch Pro Tour’s Tier 1 events, will showcase top golfing talent on the challenging Waterfall Course. Designed in 1905, this 6,586-yard championship course is renowned for its scenic beauty and demanding play.
The Mannings Heath Championship is part of the larger Clutch Pro Tour, recognised as Europe’s leading development tour. With over 40 events across 10 territories in 2024, the tour offers a diverse platform for golfers, including 18 Tier 1 pro tournaments that serve as a direct pathway to the Challenge and DP World Tours.
As the Clutch Pro Tour Championship unfolds, spectators have the opportunity to walk the course free of charge, following the action from tee to green. The tournament’s structure, with play from Wednesday to Friday, allows for an exciting build-up to the final round, where only the top performers will compete for victory.
The Clutch Pro Tour’s commitment to golf development is evident in its £1.8 million guaranteed season purse, the largest in European development golf. This investment in emerging talent aligns with Mannings Heath Golf Club’s ethos of nurturing both golfing and viticultural excellence.
The three-day tournament offers golf enthusiasts the chance to witness rising stars and established players compete on one of Sussex’s most prestigious courses. The event’s free entry policy underlines Mannings Heath’s commitment to promoting golf and making it accessible to all.
The event not only highlights Mannings Heath’s exceptional golf course but also showcases the broader offerings of Leonardslee Wine Estate. The estate, owned by wine and hospitality entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE, has rapidly established itself as a must-visit destination for both golf and wine enthusiasts.
Beyond the greens, visitors can indulge in wine-tasting experiences at the Leonardslee Tasting Room. The estate recently launched its first English sparkling wines in June 2024, featuring three distinctive varieties: Leonardslee Blanc de Blancs 2020, Leonardslee Brut Reserve 2021, and Leonardslee Brut Rosé 2021.
These wines, produced from classic Champagne varietals grown on the 750-acre estate, reflect the terroir of West Sussex. The vineyard’s composition of 60% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir, and 10% Pinot Meunier has yielded sparkling wines that are already receiving attention in the English wine scene.
Visitors can extend their experience at the on-site Vineyard Kitchen restaurant, offering a menu that perfectly complements the estate’s wines. For those keen to explore further, vineyard tours provide insight into the winemaking process, from vine to glass.
Mannings Heath Golf Club offers a range of membership options including full, five-day and flexible memberships, and corporate packages and discounted rates for juniors and intermediates
