Wines For Every Taste And Every Season

Seasonal Mixed Case Wine Deal

To recommend their wine picks for this season, Johann Fourie, Cellar Master at Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate, and Barry Anderson in the UK have teamed up. To create the perfect seasonal mixed case wine box.

Our goal was to find wines that were lively, interesting and full-bodied, and to divert our minds from the colder days to brighten our spirits and take us away to the sunny climate of Benguela Cove and its bright days, and Tuscan like sunsets.

UNLOCK YOUR AUTUMN MIXED BOX

Lighthouse Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Like its predecessor, this style of cool climate Sauvignon Blanc takes you right to the oceans’ edge where you can smell the salt in the air. Bone-dry with a citrus-like acidity, this wine is reminiscent of the Old World while the fruit leaps from the glass to remind you where it is from. Its vibrant character makes it a great food companion but with plenty of fruit and a crisp palate.

Benguela Cove Chardonnay

This wine is confident and demands attention with its balance between freshness and fullness. Apart from being beautifully balanced, the intensity, chalky texture, length, concentration, and super long finish make this a worthy competitor for the best Chardonnays of its kind.

Benguela Cove Pinot Noir

Expect an intriguing wine where fruit is balanced with an umami. The character that makes this wine bold in flavour but with the finesse that Pinot Noir is known for. Turkish delight and baking spice suit the soft, creamy tannin and lean acidity with whiffs of violet that announce its cool climate home.

Benguela Cove Collage

The initial masculinity of this wine is tempered with vivid notes of violets, delivering a classic, multi-faceted blend. Rich aromas of plum, marzipan and liquorice

are wrapped in cool nuances of cigar leaves, cedar and dried herbs. Well knitted tannins are trailed with vivacious fruits, leaving you wanting more.

Benguela Cove Cuvée58

With a name that celebrates the facets of a diamond, sauvignon Blanc was a clear-cut choice to shine in this refreshing MCC. Reflecting the precision that both the diamond cutter and the winemaker apply to their craft; this wine is light yet luminous with enough gravitas to pour at any celebratory occasion.

Benguela Cove Noble Late Harvest

The initial greeny straw colour that will intensify over time. The wine delivers with heady notes of pineapple, orange peel, grapefruit and dried peaches. Hemmed by notes of honey, raisin and rose oil, adds to this already complex bouquet. This intensity follows suit with a velvety and creamy texture engulfing the palate.

A South African Wine Lover's Guide from Our Table to Yours

What Makes Our Vineyards So Unique?

Our South African vineyards are exposed to the wrath of the stormy Cape winds. Wind is also a friend to our vines, keeping them cool in the heat of summer. Among the vines on the estate are Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon, and all are micromanaged to achieve maximum quality.

Benguela Cove is truly a special place - the birthplace of some extraordinary wines now gracing many lunch and dinner tables. The dream was to create a world-class and sophisticated wine tourism destination. That dream is happening now.” - Penny Streeter OBE

When it comes to our UK vineyards, they are in the heart of England, in Sussex, at Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate. With frosty seasons, plentiful rainfall, wind speeds and gusts that could exceed 10pmh and heat waves in the summer season, all these elements could really damage young vines. But cellar master Johann Fourie and serial entrepreneur, Penny Streeter OBE, do not shy away from a challenge. The unique terroirs make unique wines. With the planting of 37 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier on the protected south-facing slopes of Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate, we aim to produce the first vintage of Estate English Sparkling wine in 2023.

Sussex is also home to the UK’s first commercial Pinotage vineyard located in the heart of the Grade I listed Leonardslee Gardens, just three miles from Mannings.
