Sussex Business Support: Government Minister Meets Business At Mannings Heath

Mannings Heath Golf and Wine Estate in Horsham welcomed the Institute of Directors and two guest speakers to an IoD Sussex networking event in May - Mims Davies MP, The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Work and Pensions and the Conservative MP for Mid Sussex, Jeremy Quin, the Minister of State, Ministry of Defence.

The IoD has partnered with the estate to establish a new regional business centre for Sussex directors. Members can use the facilities free of charge, for work activities and private meetings, with access to additional meeting facilities and hospitality at discounted rates. Anyone wishing to join the IoD can contact www.iod.com.

Mims Davies met with IoD members over breakfast at the May 13th event to informally discuss the Government’s support for businesses and job creation. This was followed by the IoD 2022 Sussex golf tournament and lunch.

Mannings Heath is in the West Sussex countryside and features two golf courses: the international Waterfall course and the 9-hole Kingfisher course. The estate is a venue for weddings, conferences, and a range of special occasions, as well as wine tastings and golf-buggy tours of the 57-acre vineyard, with its sparkling wines available for the first time in 2024.

The Benguela Collection includes Leonardslee House & Gardens in Lower Beeding, West Sussex, and Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in South Africa, in addition to Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate.

"Mannings Heath is a wonderful and peaceful area for our members to gather together for meetings, social activities, or a round of golf," said Faisal Khan, chair of IoD South.

"The estate and our team are delighted to host IoD members," said Barry Anderson, managing director of Mannings Heath Golf & Wine Estate. “There is a warm welcome for members, who are invited to work here on their laptops, over a cup of coffee and a sandwich if they choose. Please contact us and we will organise additional meeting, dining, or golf facilities – or even a wine tasting, which offers a great way to entertain clients or reward staff."

The Institute of Directors (IoD) is a professional organisation in the UK for company directors, senior business leaders, and entrepreneurs. It is the UK's oldest professional leadership organisation, created in 1903 and incorporated by Royal Charter in 1906. The IoD stands for "free enterprise, entrepreneurialism, wealth creation, and sound corporate governance," according to its mission statement.
